Flower Swap

I love to swap! I love handmade fleurs so a handmade flower swap was just perfect! Pink Pinepple Scrapbook Club is hosting one with 28 women. I can't wait to see what everyone makes!

Sally said mine look like candy. I made chiffon pinwheels and added diamond dust to the edges. What a mess it was! but I love the way they came out. They look yummy and sugar coated! Then added a big flat back pearl center. I love them!

Next I am working on my Lucky 13 pages. Have been experimenting with the canvas to see what I can do with it!

This Saturday is a wonderful event for Operation Showers of Appreciation at Pink Pineapple Scrapbooks in Vista. Sadly, there is still room!!! If you want to join us we would love to have you! Or if you have time to come by, we will start ending auctions at 1pm so come bid on some awesome stuff!

The Wizard of Oz Gala

I signed up to be a part of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz Gala but forgot to make my post live today! So I am a little late, nothing new to those that know me!! Twyla and Linsey have posted the most amazing photos on their blog. Please visit them to see all the amazing WofOz goodness!

I am so excited to post about this event that is so close to my heart and happens to be Wizard of Oz Themed!!

Oh NO! Im late with this post! I wanted to announce a really awesome Wizard of Oz themed event that we are doing in San Diego on March 20, 2010. Its going to be amazing and so much fun! If you are a crafter, you will be dying to join us!

Here are the details:
Royalty Over the Rainbow, A Inspirational Retreat for Charity .

This event is going to be all about INSPIRATION and REWARD. The theme as you might have guessed is based on the Wizard of Oz. You will be “following the yellow brick road” and finding many treasures. You might find courage, through your efforts to fundraise, and you might find your heart as you spend 2 days with wonderful charitable people being rewarded for your efforts, and you might find your brain! Ha ha! I know I put mine here somewhere! Or you just might find your way home in a beautiful Wizard of Oz inspired project created for you by 5 Celebrity Designers all donating their time and creativity to reward you for selflessly giving.

We have not finalized all of the details but here is what we have so far:

Date: March 20, 2010 9am till March 21, 6pm
Location: San Dieguito Boys & Girls Club Solana Beach Branch
The Charities: Cancer Coping Center and San Dieguito Boys & Girls Club Solana Beach Branch

We are only taking 54 participants for this event.
This event is going to sell out and you do not want to miss it!
Registration opens to the public at 8 am October 1, 2009

Now what do you have to do to attend? The registration fee is set at $100 or two payments of $55. You are required to raise a minimum of $500 to attend.

Let me break it down for you:

You will have 5 months and 20 days (171 days) to raise this money and we will help you! There are a ton of ideas on the website but if you choose to, you can save the money yourself. You only need to save $3 a day or $21 a week to reach this goal. What could you cut out of your life that costs you that amount? Make the commitment and make a huge difference in the life of someone less fortunate than you.

Ask 10 people for $25 that’s $250 your half way there.
Host a garage sale- push your stuff out your door and watch the donations add up.
Give up coffee shop coffee!!! Bring your own coffee to work… this will get you there fast!

I know times are hard, this economy is hitting us all, believe me, I know. Now is the time that we need to give a little more. Those people that needed help before, need help even more now. They have lost jobs, lost homes, dignity, the list goes on.

If we band together like the Dorothy, The Tin Man, The Scarecrow and The Cowardly Lion together we can reach a goal of raising $30,000 for these very worthy charities.

I am so excited for those who are able to be a part of this momentous event!

Vintage ATC swap

So I took some crafting time this morning and finished my ATCs for a "Vintage" themed swap that the awesome Ally is hosting. She has gone crazy with the ATCs and I had to join. I do love doing swaps as long as I get good stuff back!

Here's a little ramble about what I did to create these babies...

I used corrugated cardboard for my base, painted it with gesso, stamped it with distress ink and french script, then I used the Tattered Angles Glimmer chips and glimmer mist to do the butterfly. Then cut out some vintage cards that I scanned for the middle of the frame. I love these cards. They bled a little when I added the crystal lacquer so you couldn't read the words any more so I added the "Remember When" title. Glittered, added some stitched crepe paper and a flower stick pin that I made and a little bouquet. I am pretty happy with how they turned out :)

Could still use your help with the votes!! click here. it takes 2 seconds. please please please do it!!

Buy a Flower from me?

That is right, from me, not for me :) Although I do love flowers (hint hint husband that never reads my blog. :) )

So how do you put a price on art?

Yesterday I was at the Paper Tales "Junque and Trunk" show and it was very fun! It was successful too! Jackie B went and staked us out a great spot on Friday by the back door and after hauling a ton of stuff there, I settled in a for a day for selling. And it was so fun! of course it was because I am a happy people and I make my own fun!

I met a ton of great people, talked about Scrapbook Royalty and sold some of my handmade works of heart!

I also took the time to make some more flowers while I was there. I had prepped them the night before, and was just sewing and adding the centers. It was really fun! I'm way to A.D.D. to just stand there and sell stuff! I have to be doing something else at the same time!

Soooooo.... back to pricing my art. I really have no idea how much I should be selling stuff for. I ask people and really, it is so subjective. I find myself just taking the answer that i like best! There were a few people there selling handmade flowers and they were all priced higher than mine. They were all different of course so really subjective!

Anyway, I am selling my flowers for $4 for the small ones and $5 for the larger ones. If you like them and want to own one.... email me which you like best and I will ship as many as you like to you for $1 shipping charge. I sold a bunch of these at CHA (I am pretty sure Jenni Bowlin's whole booth got one) It is so fun to have people like what you have made!I know these photos are not great of the flowers... I will try to do a post just of flower pics and get close up.

I TAKE CREDIT CARDS :)

I always donate 20% of my sales to Scrapbook Royalty.

I will be making more :) so keep and eye out! Here are some photos of yesterday's fun...

This is a view of the room and Deena a friend I met through Stephanie Ackerman. She is sooo sweet and donted a bunch of stamps at the end to SBR.

Is this dress form so cute with the wings, aprons and tape measures? I just loved it.

this adorable girl told me all about her tap lessons and how she was going to start taking ballet. she was just too cute and had to have a flower!

god I am am such a not good photogrpher! I dont know how to find the right lighting... anyway, this wonderful chicky bought this clip and put it on right then and there. It looked fab!

Lisa came by and bought 4 flowers! you should all follow her lead!

Here I am with my wares and the beautiful SBR banner that the amazing Jennifer Priest made. I only put up half of it because it is super long!

Whatcha doing this Saturday? What I did yesterday...

Yesterday...
A day of travel for the Traveling Princess. Lisa and I made a day of fun out of Scrapbook Royalty meetings. First stop Paris to the Moon. I have only been here once but have been dying to get back. Soooo awesome full of inspiration. I just love it! The proprietor Darren and artist Keri were gracious to pose for a photo for us and Keri's little cute dog was kind enough to give me little ears in the picture! They are having a

tea party on Aug 29th. If Idid not have the Operation Showers Of Appreciation event at Pink Pineapple, I would be there in a heart beat! I know it will be awesome!

Then off to meet in person a wonderful volunteer Christina who has taken on the role of Volunteer Coordinator for SBR. This is a huge task to take on and Lisa has actually done this type of thing before so it was great to have her there to give input and she can now be a back up for this position as well. so in the photo.. left to right Lisa, Pam, Christina and Me! Pam came after our meeting to chat about the newsletter. She took on this daunting task about 2 months ago? maybe longer? and has been amazing at it. She also Twitters for SBR! Something I still dont totally understand :) but she is awesome at it I know that much!

After these two meetings, Lisa, Pam and I went to meet Lorene Yost for another little meeting and chat about SBR and then off to the Stampington Launch Party!

This was seriously so much fun. The room was filled with artists that have contributed to this beautiful publication as well as the editors of the different magazines. Jenny Doh, Editor and Chief, introduced me to Killeen the publisher and it was like meeting royalty. This is such an amazing publication for inspiring artists and crafters. If you have not picked up a Stampington Magazine before, go out and get one! I bought the Green Crafts Magazine last night and I love it. I am all about being green!

Thanks to Cheryl who made this wonderful connection for me and SBR!

Ok. I sooooo want Jenny's Dress! Its soooo me! The first time I met Jenny, she told me she had the same dress as I was wearing! we have the same taste :) how flatering!

I want to take better photos

I take tons of photos all the time! but I dont take good photos. So while I was in the shower, i do my best thinking there, I composed a shot. It was so weird. It was like planning an event in my head, or planning an art project, which is what I usually do... It was cool. Anyway, the shot was all about these adorable shoes I got at Ross or tj max or something, Anyway, I had a wadded up store credit in my purse and wanted to use it... so I found these shoes that I love love love! Since I couldnt find my neclace (see 2 posts ago) anywhere! (thanks for trying by the way)

Anyway, today was beautiful and even though the sun was not at the opportune place, I still kind of got the shot I has imagined...

tell me how cute these shoes are?!?!?

All for fun. The only thing missing was so big fluffy clouds. I had envisioned those in my shot :) And my legs looks longer and skinnier in my mind too!

Please look at my last post about nominating Scrapbook Royalty to win some $$$ :)

Be a Happy People!!!

I was at the World's Largest Crop Attempt!

I get to do this every day!!!

How does life get better than this? When I am feeling sorry for myself because something in my life is not going great, I just have to remember that I get to wake up every day and do what I love.

So...

You might already know that we didnt make it but.... Well, it was a great time anyway. The raffles, silent auctions, make and takes, celebs... it was just grand!

Here is the room full of crafters. I got only a few negative comments, to be expected with 208 women. And even though they "hurt" I know that everyone's perspective on things is different and I learn so much for the feedback I get so I am still a HAPPY PEOPLE!!

I don't know what Mark Montano thinks I did but I swear I didn't do it!! I just love Mark. He is one of those kind charismatic souls and he made the event very special for all the attendees, especially one special attendee, Sheila who won him in the celebrity auction!

They chatted like old friends and Sheila was so happy! Well deserved reward for this charity do-gooder!!

Here is one of my little fairys Abigail that lit up the room with her smile and gifts!!
The room before the horde of crafters invaded!

Here I am watching the test run of the video that Leeza Gibbons made for us to show. She made the event so much better just by saying a few words about the charity we were all there to support.

And the bottom line is we raised $8000 for the Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation and all the hard work paid off. Here I am with Dr Jamie, Tina and Sue from the Foundation. They worked hard and made the event even more special!

I can't complain, even when I think I can, I can't. Life is just too good being a HAPPY PEOPLE!

Where is my crafting time going?

I just can't get my crafting time back after being gone!

I have so much to talk about but....

I just received a book in the mail from my friend Kris and I know that it is what I am supposed to post about today. Opening this little book opened my heart on a day when I really need it. I have so much to do, so much to catch up on, and I am still recouperating from last week, but reality smacked me in the face when I read this little book.

I am blessed...

I am a Happy People...

My life is so far removed from any true struggles...

I encourage you all to go to the Ties That Bind Website and buy this little book. It is filled with beautiful picutures and beautiful words of inspiration. This is exactly the kind of project I love being involved with and I am so honored that I can.

If you didn't know, and I didnt, the top of the doll's head has writting. This is what it says:

"The day after the haircutting party was chemo, and after chemo we went wig shopping. Naturally, I bought a styrofoam head of my very own. I wanted 2 but I didnt have room in my bag. This is Clio. Mom found me lisetning to Mozart and drinking red wine from a jam jar while I was painting her face. Mom just turned around and left the room."-Brianna Privett-

When I finished reading this, I was crying, I just know I cound never be this strong.

I am blessed ...
